People en Español honors "25 Most Powerful Women"

L'Oreal Spokesperson Martha Debayle

People en Español hosted a fabulous event last week to celebrate the "25 Most Powerful Women" at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida. I was invited to attend the luncheon by L'Oreal Paris, one of the sponsors, who hosted a lipstick bar where guests could pick out their favorite shades of Loreal Paris Le Rouge Colors of Power selected by their spokesperson Martha Debayle.

(Watch for an upcoming review of the colors including swatches!)

The first thing that caught my eye about this collection was not just the richness of the shades but how they are universally flattering to women of all complexions.  This, Martha told me, was the reason she chose them specifically.

Just being in the room with many of the honorees and guests was extremely exciting.  I have admired many of these woman from afar and it was such a huge honor to hear them speak.  Those in attendance included: Maria Antonieta Collins, Cristina Saralegui, Olga Tañón, Lili Estefan, and Adamari Lopez.

I must tell you all all about the special 26th honoree, a young woman whose story of survival had nearly everyone in the room with tears in their eyes: Rosie Rivera. As the sister of Mexican-American superstar Jenni Rivera, you would think she had a sweet life but unfortunately this was not so.

She suffered a lot from a young age but despite all the horrible things that happened to her she has persevered and is helping people who have gone through abuse.  To hear more about her story, she has spoken about it on her niece's Mun2 reality show Chiquis & Raq-C.

The afternoon ended with an impromptu meet-and-greet with all the powerful women who attended. Here are some event photos below:
