Why Yes, You Do Need A Trainer!

Hey, check out my trainer Val! Sadly the fit chick is not me...yet! (Photo: Fontainebleau)
I have attempted to get myself back into a gym for a few years now but I never found motivation. Going inside any of the big chain fitness centers intimidated me enough to continue paying a monthly fee yet rarely ever making it inside. The truth is, I didn't know exactly what I needed to do? Should I be doing cardio? Should I be hitting the weights? Maybe I should be signing up for one of the many popular classes like Zumba or trying out Crossfit?

I'm not suggesting you can't get a good workout at a gym on your own. But when you're in a position like mine, where you haven't seen the inside of said gym since signing up a year or two ago, you will benefit from the expertise of a professional trainer. Heck, even if you have been working out and feel comfortable with what you're currently doing, there is nothing like having a trained and passionate individual observe your form and check for weaknesses you may not even realize you have!

So whether you've hit a plateau or you're looking to get started the right way, you should really consider booking some solid time with a trainer. Now I would like to preface what I'm about to say by letting you all know that there are always exceptions to the rule. But, having worked at a big name gym for a few years ago, many of the trainers at those facilities lack the real knowledge needed and are only looking to sell sessions that earn them commission.

If you read my original post, you'll have learned I started working with Master Trainer Val Connor at The Gym at Fontainebleau Miami a few weeks ago. My first week, I was so shocked at how out of shape I was. I had stopped caring about myself and treating my body like I should have and I was paying the price. But with Val's knowledge and expertise I have been able to build up my strength and learn the importance of the mind/body connection.  He is constantly challenging me and I am already noticing how much taller I stand and how much confidence I've been able to build thanks to his guidance.

Doing something like this is not cheap. But if I added up all the splurges I've done for lunch and dinner, countless happy hours and of course cocktails with the girls, I'd have the amount needed to ensure my body is working at its best. I can't think of a better investment than my health; not even that hot Chanel backpack I've had my eye on since Coachella!

If you are a South Florida local or will be visiting the area and want to book Val, who is absolutely one of the best and most knowledgeable trainers out there, check out this link or call (305) 674-4772 or (866) 750-4772 for his availability. He also has a great team of trainers at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach that can work with you as well.

Your sessions include access to the Lapis Spa Water Journeys, resort poolscape, plus validated parking for the day. Going for a refreshing swim after a challenging workout is exactly what your muscles need.

What have you done lately to ensure you're living a healthier life? I'm always looking for new tips!
