Leave it to HBO Latino to create next level programming for the bilingual market. On April 1st at 10pm ET/9pm CT, the network is releasing "El Hipnotizador," their first bilingual production. I had the chance to preview the pilot episode and I can assure you, this is not your mother's melodramatic novela!

Before I tell you about the dark-yet-beautiful photography, let me get you up to speed on what this series is all about. Argentine star Leonardo Sbaraglia stars as the title character--- The Hypnotizer. He's this mysterious character with many secrets yet to reveal.

According to HBO Latino, He uses a special hypnosis technique, to solve other people's problems by putting them into a trance in order to reveal their inner, darkest secrets. Living in a hotel surrounded by painful memories and condemned to a life of sleepless nights by his rival Darek (Chico Diaz), he will need to confront Darek and deal with his past if he ever wants to sleep again.

This series reminded me a lot of another dark HBO show, "Boardwalk Empire." Although there aren't any murderous gangsters in this, the style in which it was shot as well as the use of costumes and locations make it easy to transport the viewer to the 1940's. Each shot makes me feel the grittiness of the story and I know that no matter what is coming next can't be good for anyone involved.

Remember we mentioned the show mystery drama is bilingual? You can catch this bilingual offering in Spanish/Portuguese with English subtitles! The Portuguese options were east enough to follow if you only speak Spanish but having those subtitles were extremely helpful in a pinch.

You can preview the first episode entitled, "A Fita Amarela" via an exclusive video located via HBO Latino's Facebook page. Click here to watch it now! Don't forget to "Like" the page as well to stay up-to-day with the latest on this show, which is sure to become your new favorite Friday night drama.

If you rather watch it after its first airing on TV, check it out via HBO GO shortly after the premiere. What do you have to lose? Check it out and support this amazing talent and beautifully shot production so HBO Latino brings us more of these top quality offerings.

After watching, head to the comments below and let me know how much you love it.
