Top 4 Tips To Get Fit Right Now!

It's difficult keeping up with your New Year's Resolution because #life. I must admit, I've not been doing my best. So as we inch closer to summer, we need to get back on track. I don't know about you all but I plan on looking and feeling good in my warm weather gear!

I'm currently carrying a bit of extra weight as well but luckily I got some great tips from Wonderful Pistachios’ Health Ambassador, Laura Posada that'll help us get back on track.

1. Meal Prepping Helps A LOT! 

One easy way to get (and stay) on track is by making an effort to do meal prep for the whole week. Just be sure to prepare in advance and use a little creativity so you don’t get bored by the end of the week. A little meal prepping ahead of time goes a long way. For example, you can think about the times of day when you usually get cravings, and replace unhealthy snacks with fruits or nuts, like Wonderful® Pistachios, instead! This may help reduce the temptation to reach for whatever not-so-healthy options are available in the workplace or on your drive home. 

2. Treat Your Body Right 

Besides improving your physical appearance, the most important part of healthy eating is supplying your body with the nutrients it needs to give you more energy. Experts say that aside from nutrient-dense fruits, like bananas and berries, pistachios and other nuts are an ideal food for energy that may last all day long. Pistachios contain a combination of protein, fiber and monounsaturated fats – the good fats - that our bodies need. 

3. Try it, Own it! 

Keep in mind that you must combine healthy eating with regular exercise to achieve your optimal health. Try a variety of exercises and find out what you like best. Maybe you are a runner, a swimmer, a cyclist, or a whiz at Pilates…who knows…just get moving! Your body will appreciate it plus you will set a good example and be an inspiration for your kids! 

4. Be Their Role Model 

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is essential not just for you alone, but also for your entire family. Here is our list of clever little tricks you can use to give your family’s meals an extra boost of nutrients that will ensure satisfaction: 

  • Make fun bowls of trail mix, using pistachios, almonds, raisins, goji berries, and other dried fruit. On weekends, keep the bowls out so everyone can nibble throughout the day. 
  • Make homemade soups using fresh vegetables, such as carrot soup, that you can sprinkle pistachios on top of for a good crunch.
  • Bake homemade protein muffins and add pistachios, zucchini or pumpkin to the batter. 
  • Have a barbecue with family and friends and make grilled chicken, meats and vegetables like corn, zucchini, peppers, and broccoli. These always taste great on the grill and are much healthier than typical backyard party foods like hot dogs and hamburgers. Add a few interesting dipping sauces, like a pistachio salsa that everyone will be sure to fall in love with!
